Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible entirely electrically accurate optical zero level processing by holding one out of the photo detector array formed on a substrate shielded of light and removing noise components from the outputs of other elements by using the output thereof.
CONSTITUTION: One photo detector out of a photo detector array is held shielded of light and pulse signal 31 is applied to a self-scanning type image sensor 10 being the photo detector as the light shielded element by a clock pulse generating circuit 30. Start pulse signal 33 is applied thereto in a start pulse generating circuit 32 synchronized to the clock pulses. The signal 35 for holding the optical zero level signal having been detected with the sensor 10 by 1 measurement cycle is generated in a pulse generating circuit 34. From the output signal of the photo detector, the light shielded element output signal is operated in an arithmetic circuit 40, the output signal 41 whereof is then converted to the digital signal suited for outputting in an A/D converter 42.
