Abstract
PURPOSE: To quickly and simply measure the quantity of lubricating oil within a short period of time by connecting a branch circuit, provided with a pressure gauge, valve, nozzle and an oil reservoir, between the high pressure output port and the low pressure output port of a refrigeration cycle.
CONSTITUTION: Rubber hoses 14 and 27 are connected to a high pressure service valve 2 and a low pressure service valve 3 of a compressor 1, respectively. The air in a branch circuit 29 is purged into the atmosphere through a valve on an auxiliary connecting tube 18 by the pressure of the refrigerant. Then, a compressor 1 is operated for a fixed period of time with a valve 20 fully opened. A nozzle 28 restricts the flow of the refrigerant outputted from the compressor 1 to allow 6 to 8% of the refrigerant outputted from the compressor 1 to return to the compressor through an oil reservoir 23 and the rubber hose 27. The refrigerant restricted by the nozzle 28 expands instantaneously loosing heat and the lubricating oil is separated. The lubricating oil content of the refrigerant is known by measuring the separated lubricating oil
