Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a heat pump type air conditioner, in which a small amount of cooling medium is passed to those indoor units which are not in use, when operating a plurality of indoor units selectively, and pressure in the line which is not in use is lowered, whereby it is enabled to lower heat loss and to carry out heating operation at a high efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: Indoor units 2a, 2b are connected in paralle, and one end each of these indoor units 2a, 2b is connected to cooling expander 9 of outdoor unit 1 via bridge circuits 12a, 12b having on-off valves 13, 15 and flowrate controllers 14, 16 connected in parallel, whereas the other ends of the indoor uints 2a, 2b are connected to four-way valve 5 of the outdoor unit 1 via parallel circuits 18a, 18b having check valves 19, 22, on-off valves 20, 23 and flow-rate controllers 21, 24 connected in parallel. During heating operation of either one of the above two indoor units 2a, 2b, a small amount of cooling medium is passed also to the other indoor unit via flow-rate controllers 14, 16, 21, 24
