Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide an ignition device which can stably burn mixture gas in a combustion chamber recirculated with a large quantity of exhaust gas of low consumption energy for a rotary piston engine. CONSTITUTION:An ignition device employs a continuous ignition type plug 12 and a sparking plug 14 together to alter the ignition energy amount supplied to the plug 12 in response to the exhaust gas amount in the combustion chamber for a rotary piston engine. The plug 12 uses, for example, a glow plug, a glow circuit 16 for supplying heating low voltage large current to the plug 12, relays 18, 20 for controlling the timing for supplying an electric energy to the plug from the circuit 16, and a sparking circuit 22 for applying high ignition voltage to one plug 14 at the timing responsive to the engine revolution to thereby energize the relays 18, 20 by EGR detector 42 and throttle valve switch 44 at the output.
