Abstract

PURPOSE:To monitor axial alignment of optical fibers by letting the images of the optical fibers radiated with a light source be formed on a semiconductor array, electrically scanning the changes produced in the array and projecting the images on a display device. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor array 3 which converts the intensities of light to electrical changes and a light source 4 are disposed in proximity to optical fibers 2 and light is radiated to the optical fibers 2 from the A and B directions, letting the images of the optical fibers 2 be formed on the semiconductor array 3. With these images, the electrical changes produced in the semiconductor array 3 are electrically scanned and amplified with an electric circuit 5 to drive a display device 6 such as screen of Braun tube. Hence, the axial alignment state of the optical fibers 2 may be accurately observed, the visual field widened and necessary contrast readily obtained.
