Abstract
PURPOSE: To automatically change the interval of defrosting operation, by detecting the amount of frost attaching to the evaporator, through sensing the time length required for the defrosting operation.
CONSTITUTION: The interval between successive defrosting cycles is controlled in accordance with the time length required for the defrosting operation, by means of a D.C. relay 11 having a change-over contact 12, thyristor 16, counter 25, constant- voltage diode 41 and so forth. as electric power is supplied from a power source 1, the counter 25 is reset to the initial state, and a compressor 6 is started if a freezer motor 5 has been truned on. The counter 25 continues the counting during operation of the compressor 6. As a predetermined number is counted by the counter 25, the contact 12 is switched to stop the compressor 6. As the compressor 6 is stopped, heaters 2, 3 are supplied with electric power by a defrost switch 4, so as to commence the defrosting operation. In this state, the counter 25 continues the counting, although the compressor 6 is kept stopped. As a result, the period of operation of the compressor 6 is made short and long, as the tme length of the defrosting operation is made long and short
