Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve follow-up characteristics by coupling a magnetic head assembly to the center in the longitudinal direction of a bimorph type piezoelectric vibrator whose both ends consist of supporting ends in such a manner that the magnetic head gap width comes in the vibrating direction of the vibrator and providing a braking means. CONSTITUTION:The piezoelectric type actuator consists of a magnetic assembly 6 and a bimorph type piezoelectric vibrator 14. The head assembly 6 comprises an integrated head 7 containing a multiplicity of magnetic head elements, a slider 8 which holds this and floats in the opposing face of a magnetic disc 1, a gimbal spring 9 which holds the slider, a load spring 10 which maintains the floating quantity of the slider constant in balance with the buoyancy produced in the slider and its support arm 11. As a braking element 22, the vibrator 14 comprises mounting a braking plate 15 to an elastic vibrator plate 12 laminated with piezoelectric 13 and inserting the same in the gap of the magnetic circuit of a permanent magnet, thus obtaining braking effect.
