Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce and fix Cr6+ to Cr3+ by adding a mineral acid and a refusing agent such as water-sol. ferrous salt or alkali metal sulfide etc. to Cr6+-contg. material of specific pH, and by kneading the mixt. to form water-contg. or pasty material.
CONSTITUTION: To a Cr6+-contg. material of pH not lower than 9 (when converted to 10wt% slurry) are added a mineral acid in an amount to reduce the pH to 7 or lowr and a reducing agent described below, then the mixt. is kneaded and left to stand, so as to dry and keep it at water-contg. or pasty, wet state for 4 or more days. For the reducing agent is used water-sol. ferrous salt, e.g., FeSO4 etc., alkali metal sulfide, e.g., Na2S etc., alkali (-earth) metal hydrosulfied, e.g., NaHS, alkali metal (acid) sulfite, or alkali metal thiouslfate.
