Abstract
PURPOSE:To form an anticorrosive layer of superior strength on an iron material by heating the material in an oxidizing atmosphere to form an inorg. film based on iron oxide and iron silicate, and coating a thermosetting resin. CONSTITUTION:An iron material contg. Si>=0.5% is heated to a temp. above 700 deg.C in an oxidizing atmosphere to form an iron silicate film on the surface and a film based on iron silicate and iron oxide is further formed on the iron silicate film. When the iron material contains Si<=0.5%, a silicate powder coating agent using bentonite or sodium silicate as a binder is coated on the surface and the material is heated to a temp. above 700 deg.C to form an inorg. film based on iron oxide and iron silicate on the surface. Since the film has good adherence to the iron base and superior strength, however it is porous and has an inferior anticorrosive property, powder of thermosetting resin such as epoxy resin or unsatd. polyester resin is coated to enhance the water resisting property, thereby forming an anticorrosive layer of superior strength.
