Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a gas comprising CH4, H2, CO2 CO and a reduced amount of sulfur, by contact of a sulfur compound-contg. hydrocarbon oil with a specific hydrogenation-desulfurigation catalyst to convert the sulfur compound(s) into H2S removing the H2S followed by performing reaction with water vapor.
CONSTITUTION: A hydrocarbon oil containing sulfur compound(s) is mixed with part of the finally produced gas from a water vapor modification tower 3 fed through a recycle line 4, followed by introducing the resulting mixture into a hydrogenating tower 1 to contact with a hydrogenation-desulfurigation catalyst to convert the sulfur compound(s) into H2S. The mixture thus obtained is then fed into a H2S-eliminating chamber 2 to remove the H2S followed by mixing with water vapor, introducing the resulting mixture into the water-vapor modification tower 3 packed with a Ni-contg. catalyst to carry out reaction between the hydrocarbon and water vapor, thus obtaining the objective gas consisting mainly of CH4, H2, CO2, and CO.
