Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide an arrangement for drving and supporting upper structure of steering shaft, in which a large-diametered portion is formed at the upper end of steering shaft integrally with the same to insert the steering tiller into the large- diametered portion, and bushes are fitted respectively to the lower peripheral portion and the lower surface of said large-diametered portion to provide radial and thrust bearing surfaces, respectively, whereby it is enabled to easily manufacture the upper structure of the steering shaft and to make the installation space small.
CONSTITUTION: A large-diametered portion 20a is formed at the upper end of steering shaft 20 integrally with the same. Tiller 21 is inserted into a hole 20b formed in said large-diametered portion 20a, and knock pin 22 is provided for preventing coming-out of the tiller. Body 23 of bearing is of a split type and supports steering shaft 20 in freely ratatable manner together with the large-diametered portion 20a of the steering shaft 20. The bearing 23 is fixed on the floor 26 of steering room. Radial and thrust bushes 27, 28 are interposed betweem bearing 23 and outer peripheral surface 20'a and lower surface 20"a of the large-diametered portion 20a to provide yadial and thrust bearing surfaces respectively
