Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an arrangement for lifting magnet, in which slits are formed in the iron core of magnet to prevent deflection of magnetic flux in the iron core, whereby magnetic force can be exerted uniformly and the magnet itself is made compact and light.
CONSTITUTION: Iron core 1 is formed with slits having a depth (h) and a width W corresponding to the width of billets (a)W(e). When coil 2 is energized to attract the billets (a)W(e) to the magnet, magnetic flux is caused in the billets. Here, by the effect of slits (w), deflection of magnetic flux is not caused in the iron core 1 and magnetic flux is generated for each billet. For billet (d), for instance, magnetic force is acted through gap (g). Thus, all of the billets can be attraacted to the magnet, without generating excessive magnetic flux, so that magnet can be made compact and light
