Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a rotor bracket having an engagement portion with a required accuracy, a press-formed sheet metal bracket having a nearly finished shape is pressed by a first punch to form grooves at bearing seat and the formed grooves are removed by a second punch.
CONSTITUTION: A pounch 4 having elevations 4a is used to make grooves at inner surfaces of bearing seat 1a of a sheet metal bracket 1. The formed crowns are removed by drawing process using a cylindrical punch 2 to provide an internal diameter of a required dimension. Such process causes no or little internal stress in radial and peripheral directions, so the internal diameter defined by the punch 2 is maintained after the bracket 1' is removed from the metal mold. The process also eliminates the need for machining engaging portions such as bearing seat, providing low-noise rotor bracket in reduced production cost.
