Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a high roundness annular product by eliminating conventional oval-shape divergence, ring rolling miss is controlled so that both axial rolls are fixed and a specific control method is used in a special case.
CONSTITUTION: In wagner-type ring rolling mill, when the material to be rolled 1a is expanded in diameter to L1 by the main roll 1 and the mandrel 3 reduction, if L1 plus wall thickness of the material 1a is below base line L0 of axial roll 4u, 4l, the axial rolls 4u, 4l are set and fixed for rolling at a position close to the side of the mandrel 3 by a small distance(a) from the inner periphery of the material 1a to be rolled. If the material is expanded to be dislocated from the axial rolls 4u, 4l, the axial frame 4 is moved outwardly from the roll 2, as specified separately, during some intermediate rolling period. This rolling process prevents conventional oval-shepe divergence and provides annular products of high roundness.
