Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a hot-melt adhesive for textile use, having excellent dry-cleaning resistance and hot-water washing resistance, giving excellent touch to the bonded part, and composed of a polyether-ester copolymer having a specific intrinsic viscosity.
CONSTITUTION: The title adhesive composed of a polyether-ester copolymer having an intrinsic viscosity (25°C) of 0.5W1.5 measured in o-chlorophenol, is prepared by (IX) carrying out the ester exchange reaction of (A) 1 mole of dicarboxylic acids (or their ester-forming derivatives) wherein the acid component is composed of 70W40% of terephtalic acid and 30W60% of isophthalic acid, (B) 1.1W20 moles of 1,4-butanediol, and (C) 1W10 wt% of a poly(alkyleneoxide) glycol having a number average molecular weight of 300W6000, in the presence of an esterification catalyst, at 150W260°C under atmospheric pressure, and then (II) polymerizing the product at 200W270°C under a reduced pressure of ≤3 mmHg.
