Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the time to be surely known to the user by inverting the display colors of EPID at AM, PM or the set time in the time display device using the display plate (EPID) which makes use of electrophoresis. CONSTITUTION:While time display is being accomplished in a digital time display plate as shown in the figure, the display colors change with AM and PM. For example, in the case of AM, the display part 10 is made black and the background and the display segment part 9 of OFF are made white. When it becomes PM, the polarity of the display color assignment signal of a display plate driving circuit inverts and the dispaly colors invert, thus distinctly indicating the difference of AM and PM. If such a method of driving the EPID is employed, the cumulation time of the ON and OFF states of the segments and background parts of EPID becomes equal, and this makes contribution to the long-term stability of the dispersion system.
