Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable low temp. denitration by using a catalyst obtd. by forming manganese chloride on the surface of manganese carbonate ore and converting the manganese carbonate into manganese oxide by sintering.
CONSTITUTION: Hydrochloric acid is poured onto crushed manganese carbonate and evaporated to dryness to form manganese chloride on the carbonate surface. The chloride-coated carbonate is then sintered in air to convert the carbonate into manganese oxide. The resulting catalyst is packed into circulation type reaction tube made of glass, and SO2-rich exhaust gas is passed through the tube to carry out selective reduction denitration with NH3 at low temps. The catalyst sustains low temp. activity represented by the solid line with the passage of time.
