Abstract

PURPOSE: The title composition having improved processing characteristics and high modulus without loss of crosslinked rubber properties, obtained by adding a cyclized diene polymer to ethylene-propylene rubber.
CONSTITUTION: A) 100 parts by wt. of ethylene-propylene rubber consisting of a) 40W80 wt.% of ethylene, b) 60W20 wt.% of propylene, and c) 0W20 wt.% of an unsaturated component is blended with B) 10W80 parts by wt., preferably 15W60 parts by wt. of a cyclized diene polymer having a ratio of cyclization not less than 50%, preferably 60%, by solution blending to give rubber composition. The rubber composition having a Mooney viscosity of blended rubber not more than 100 provides improved processing characteristic, and a vulcanized material having a modulus of 600W200 kg/cm2 at 100% elongation, a tension strength not less than 150 kg/cm2, and an elongation of not less than 100% can be obtained.
USE: Tires, rubber vibration insulator, bumpers, belt, flexible joints, guide rolls, etc.
