Abstract

PURPOSE:Copper or its compound slightly soluble in water and organic solvents is added to an acrylonitrile polymer in a specific amount, thus producing acrlonitrile fibers having fungicidal and bactericidal properties. CONSTITUTION:To a preferably 3-8 wt% solution of an acrylonitrile polymer that contains preferably 50 or more wt% of acrylonitrile is added preferably 15-30 wt% of copper or its compound slightly soluble in water or organic solvents to prepare the spinning dope. Then, it is spun into fibers of 0.5-20 denier as a filament, thus producing said objective fibers consisting of 5-40 wt% of the copper or its compound and 95-60wt% of acrylonitrile polymer. EFFECT:The resulting fibers have bactericidal properties and prohibit microorganisms in water or marine from sticking on them. USE:Cloths, industrial materials.
