Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a comined polyester filament yarn capable of giving crimped yarns having improved bulkiness, by drawing only one of the two divided filament groups of a spun multifilament yarn to increase the birefringence, and by combining them.
CONSTITUTION: A polyester, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, is spun into filaments, which are divided into two groups. Only one of them is drawn between (A) plural rolls, (B) draw pins and rolls, (C) a heated running zone and rolls, or (D) their combination. The two groups are combined before the winding onto a bobbin to give a combined filament yarn comprising the first group having a fineness per filament of 1.5W3d and the second group having a fineness per filament of 5W10d and a birefringence ≥ 0.03, prferably ≥ 0.04.
EFFECT: Textured yarns which are not easily stretchable can be obtained by crimping without doubling.
