Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress the gasification of coke with steam in a gas for heating and cooling and to obtain the briquetted coke of high quality, by dehumidifying the gas to the moisture content of 1% or below in coking cob coal in a vertical carbonization oven.
CONSTITUTION: The cob coal fed from the feeder 1 of the vertical carbonization oven comprising the carbonization, the cooling, and the discharge chambers 2, 3, and 4, at normal temperature is heated to a desired temperature by a dehumidifying gas fed from the inlets 5 and 6 during the falling down in the chamber 2. The coal is then cooled by a cooling gas which is dehumidified to the moisture content ≤ 1% in the dehumidifier A and fed from the inlet 7 during the falling down in the chamber 3, and discharged from the chamber 4. The gas is dehumidified by an aqueous solution of LiCl scattered by the nozzles 21 in the dehmidifying tower 20 of the dehumidifier A.
