Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the deterioration of resolution around the screen by making the vertical deflecting leak magnetic field of the neck part of a color Braun tube, etc., into a pincushion magnetic field by the pole piece of a soft magnetic substance.
CONSTITUTION: Pole piece 12 consisting of a soft magnetic substance such as Permalloy is arranged near holes 11, where electron beams pass, of shield cup 10 in the neck part of cathode-ray tube 3 having deflecting yoke in the external. Therefore, the magnetic field distribution of each beam passing hole is changed from leak magnetic field 13 in case of no pole piece to pincushion magnetic field 14, and the magnetic field is weak near the center and strong in the electron passing region of the vertically most outside circumference. Consequently, the electron deflection of the most outside circumference becomes large to reduce the halo (a large region of beam diameters downward in the screen upper part and upward in the lower part) which is easy to generate around the screen thereby improving resolution.
