Abstract
PURPOSE: A flame-retardant resin composition usable as cable insulating materials, having improved heat aging characteristics, comprising ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, a chlorinated polyethylene, a polyphenol antioxidant, and a flame- retardant.
CONSTITUTION: 100 parts by wt. of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer is incorporated with 80W120 parts by wt. of a chlorinated polyethylene, and the blend is then mixed with 2W7 parts by wt. of a polyphenol antioxidant, e.g. 1,3,5-tris(3,5-di- tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl)-s-triazine-2,4,6-(1H, 3H, 5H)-trione, 8W12 parts by wt. of a flame-retardant, e.g. antimony trioxide, 1W5 parts by wt. of a crosslinking agent, e.g. di-α-cumyl peroxide, 8W20 parts by wt. of a filler, and other assistants. The polyol antioxidant can be incorporated in a relatively large amount because of small consumption of free radicals due to the decomposition of the organic peroxide.
