Abstract

CONSTITUTION: Pressurized air injected from air feed holes 16 is fed to an air feed groove 17, and forms an air film between a bearing hole 12 and a shaft 13 to support the shaft 13. The depth of the groove 17, the gap between the hole 12 and the shaft 13, the space between the groove 17 and the end of the hole 12, the space between the hole 16 and the end of the groove 17, the length of the hole 12, and the length of the groove 17 are kept in a specified relationship. Force is transmitted in the axial direction assuredly without pressure drop of the air injected from the holes 16 to the groove 17, and the exhaust of gas from the gap between bearings is promoted, so that there is provided a damper effect against penumatic hammer phenomenon. Thus sufficient load capacity and response are provided.
