Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an accurate duplicate mold by applying electrolytic plating directly to an original disc with the metal thin film of the original disc as an electrode in volume production of high density records for recording and reproducing of PCM audio signal. CONSTITUTION:After filming treatment on thin film 2 surface has been applied with acid and alkali solutions to an original disc having the metal thin film of around 0.1 mm in thickness engraved with bits 3 corresponding to information on a glass substrate 1, electrolytic plating of metals such as Ni is applied to a thickness of about 100mum with the thin film 2 as an electrode. Thereafter, the Ni disc having been plated is peeled from the original disc, whereby the first mold is obtained. Further, a second mold is made from the first mold and a third mold from the second mold by similar techniques. Through pressing process using this third mold, the high density recording records of less noise faithful to the original disc are volume-produced.
