Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the toner concentration in a developing agent by attracting the toner with the use of an electric field, which is established by applying a voltage between electrodes, and by measuring the quantity of the toner caught by the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A power source circuit 7 is energized to light a lamp 4, and the output of a photoelectric converting element 5 is stored in a calculating circuit 8 while the lamp 4 is being lit. Another power source circuit 6 is then energized to apply a vosltage between an electrode plate 2 and a transparent electrode 3 so that the toner floating in the vicinity of the same may be attracted by the electrodes 2 and 3. Then, the lamp 4 is lit again to feed the output of the element 5 to the device 8 so that the toner concentration is calculated and generated from the comparison with the value which has been stored in the previous trial.
