Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the cut-off shaft power of a pump by passing vanes through the peripheral wall of a rotary boss and causing the vanes to retreat and project relative to the boss.
CONSTITUTION: In normal operation, compressed fluid is fed into the right chamber of a cylinder 18 through a pressure pipe 17 so that a piston 15 is located in a leftmost position. Vanes 11 are pushed out through an operating boss 10 so as to optimize the gap between the tip of the vanes 11 and a casing liner 2. In cut-off operation, compressed fluid is fed into the left chamber of the cylinder 18 through a pressure pipe 16 so that the piston 15 is displaced rightward. The vanes 11 are retreated through the projecting portion of a groove 12 in the boss 10, the area of the vanes 11 is reduced, the lift is decreased, the shaft power is prevented from rising, and the cut-off shaft power is reduced.
