Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance both the S/N and the resolution by providing the transfer channel featuring the same structure of the light receiving region which accumulates the charge produced by irradiating the light to the areas except for the light receiving region. CONSTITUTION:Unnecessary charge accumulating region 15 is provided across light receiving region 1 in order to accumulate the unnecessary charge caused by the light absorption at the areas except for region 1, and the light is cut off by opaque film 10. Then unnecessary charge accumulation region 16 and unnecessary charge reading region 17 are provided across accumulation region 2 and reading region 3 to read out the charge accumulated at accumulation region 15. Thus, the unnecessary charge is separated from the signal charge at the signal reading time.
