Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance iron oxide reducing efficiency without causing troubles such as bridging by mixing a reducing gas with a predetermined vol. of a free carbon- contg. reducing gas separately generated in a reduced iron manufacturing gas generation system and blowing the mixed gas into a reduction furnace.
CONSTITUTION: Burner units 5 of gas generator 1 are actuated to keep the atmosphere in generator 1 at about 850°C. A hydrocarbon gas and steam are supplied to ducts 2, and a hydrocarbon gas to ducts 3, generating a free carbon-free reducing gas and a free carbon-contg. reducing gas. The vol. of the free carbon contained is regulated in accordance with the vol. of the hydrocarbon gas supplied. The reducing gases obtd. from ducts 2,3 are mixed in a ratio of about 10:1W10:2 by vol. and supplied to reduction furnace 10. Thus, reduced iron is manufactured without forming a cluster in operation.
