Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain Al-stabilized superconductive wire by the procedure in which a plural number of composite NbTi wires whose outside circumference is combined with Al chemically are inserted into a pure Al tube, then it is further inserted into a copper alloy tube, and then it is subjected to a drawing work and the outside tube is removed.
CONSTITUTION: A desired number of composite NbTi wires 2 the outside circumference of which is chemically combined with Al 1 are inserted into the pure Al tube 3, then the tube is further inserted into the copper alloy tube or an iron tube, and lastly the tube is subjected to drawing work and the outside tube 4 is removed. For example, a Nb50Ti alloy of a 20 mm diameter is dipped in a high purity molten Al kept at approx. 700°C to form an alloy layer on its outside circumference, rolled into a 10 mm diameter wire, inserted into a high purity Al tube 13 mm in outside diameter and 11 mm in inside diameter, and then rolled and draw into a 3.2 mm diameter wire. Then, 80 strands thus obtained are inserted into an Al tube 43 mm in outside diameter and 39 mm in inside diameter, draw into a 38 mm diameter wire, inserted into Cu10Ni alloy tube 43 mm in outside diameter and 39 mm in inside diameter, and then rolled and draw into a 0.35 mm diameter multicore wire. Then, the copper alloy tube is dissolved in nitric acid to obtain an Al- stabilized superconductive wire.
