Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce eddy current loss in binding piece by electrically connecting a steel plate of higher magnetic permeability and higher resistivity than the binding piece between the binding piece and the surface of the core facing the binding piece.
CONSTITUTION: Between a binding piece 4 and the corresponding surface of a core 2 a magnetic shield 8 consisting of a thin steel plate of higher magnetic permeability and resistivity than the binding piece is interposed and electrically connected by welding or the like. In general, the magnetic flux 8 is more liable to pass along the surface of the magnetic shield 8 of the steel plate having a higher magnetic permeability. Consequently, the flux 5 reaching the magnetic shield does not immediately intrude into the binding piece 4 but passes along the magnetic sheld 8 in the vertical direction and then intrudes into the binding piece 4 from the lower end of the magnetic shield. Thus, no flux 5 passes along the surface of the binding piece 4 facing the core 2, and thus no eddy current loss is produced.
