PURPOSE:To cool molten slag surely to a target temp., by controlling, in cooling the molten slag discharged from a blast furnace to a temp. suited for manufacturing hard granulated slag, the quantity of cooling water or cooling air to be fed to the jacket of a molten slag shoot according to the detected temp. of the molten slag. CONSTITUTION:Molten slag 4 having flowed out of a molten iron reservoir 7 is forced to cool while passing through a molten slag shoot 1 to a lower temp., which is detected by a temp. detector 20 installed near a blowing box 9, and the detected temp. is inputted to a comparative controller 22. In the comparative controller 22, the detected temp. is compared with a target temp. previously set to a setter 21 to find the difference. The temp. of the molten slag at the outlet of the molten slag shoot 1 is controlled automatically to the target temp. by control of the quantity of cooling water or cooling air through the operation of a flow valve 15 so as to zeroes the temp. difference.
