Abstract
PURPOSE:To form NH4NO3 by the reaction of NO2 and NH3 and to reduce NO2 to harmless substance, by adding NH3 in exhaust gas containing NO2 and contacting with metal oxide catalyst mainly composed of titanium oxide in a fixed temperature range. CONSTITUTION:Catalyst compounded more than than one kind of metal oxides among V, Cr, Mn, Mo, Fe and W at 0.02-1, especially 0.05-0.6, of atomic ratio against titanium oxide (for example: TiO2) 1, is prepared. Next, NO2 and NH3 in exhaust gas are reacted at 50-150 deg.C, especially 70-130 deg.C under the exsistence of titanium oxide base catalyst. Then, NO2 is converted to NH4 NO3 or NH4NO2 and the above product is mainly accumulated on the catalyst and then, is removed from the gas. Also, when NOx in treating gas is mainly composed of NO, the above process is applied after NO is oxidized to NO2. Further, the catalyst lowered NO2 removing efficiency by the deposition of NH4NO2, is able to regenerate by heating at 150-200 deg.C and decomposing deposited product to NH3 and NHO3.
