Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance both the impedance and the isolation characteristics for the IC-formed magic T by decreasing the substrate hole drilling process which affects the manufacture accuracy, and thus to reduce the manufacturing dispersion of the double balanced modulator in order to secure the excellent characteristics. CONSTITUTION:Slot line 1 and 4 featuring the lambda/4 wavelength of odd-times as long as 1/4 wavelength are connected to one end of coupling slot line 2, and then both- surface short-circuit conductor 8 is provided at the other end of line 1 with connection of 1st microstrip input/output terminal H. And 2nd microstrip input/output terminal H is provided at the connection between line 1 and 2 vertically to line 1 and 2. Furthermore, two pieces of coplanar line 3 are branched at the connection of line 2 and 4 via short-circuit conductor 5. Thus, 2nd and 3rd input/output terminal P1 and P2 are formed to constitute magic T. Then the ring-coupled diode is connected to the central conductor of line 3 and the earthed conductor by setting terminal P1 and P2 of line 3 as the coupling point of terminal R, thus constituting a balanced modulator.
