Abstract

PURPOSE: In a water cooling type internal engine of a type wherein an oil pan is arranged at the lower side of a cylinder block to form the oil pan into a hollow structure and to introduce cooling water into the hollow part and to carry out effective cooling of the engine oil.
CONSTITUTION: A water cooling oil pan 40 formed into a hollow double structure is arranged at the bottom part by a diaphragm 54 is arranged at the lower side of the cylinder block 16 of an engine 10, and engine oil 56 is stored at the upper side of the diaphgram 54, cooling water 58 of an engine cooling system through a control valve 42 at the lower side of said diaphragm 54. In this case, at the cooling water passage side of a water cooling oil pan 40 there is provided a partition plate 60 parallel to the flowing direction of the cooling water 58, and the cooling water 58 makes snake motions and is caused to flow thereby to improve the heat transmission efficiency, and also improve the rigidity of the oil pan 40. The above described control valve 42 is opened when the temperature of the cooling water or that of the engine oil is raised, thereby circulating the cooling water 58.
