Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the void volume and to narrow the particle size distribution of the particles of a vinyl resin, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, etc., by polymerizing the monomer in the presence of a specific suspension stabilizer, e.g. modified vinyl acetate copolymer, etc..
CONSTITUTION: A vinyl monomer, e.g. vinyl chloride, etc., is suspension-polymerized in an aqueous medium in the presence of a suspension stabilizer composed of (A) a modified vinyl acetate copolymer having <0.3 mole % f sulfonic acid group, of its mixture with (B) a partially saponified polyvinyl alcohol having a saponification degree of 60 - 90 mole % and a polymerization degree of 300 - 3,000 (preferably 0.02 - 0.5 wt.% on the basis of the vinyl monomer). The preferable ratio of (A)/(B) is 7/3 - 0.5/9.5.
