Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate a brightness difference as to a luminous semiconductor wafer which has several luminous parts isolated electrically, by equalizing the area of the PN junction of each luminous part even if areas between respective luminous parts to be displayed are different and by obtaining the desired display area by covering it with an opaque film.
CONSTITUTION: As for the display element displaying two-digit and one-digit numeral and mark T, the slanting-line parts are luminous display parts, and dotted parts have PN junctions. Further, each digit is composed of seven light-emission diodes 1 to 7 or 1' to 7'; both digits have a common cathode and segments equivalent each other between both digits are connected via the same donductors. In this constitution, segment whose luminous part areas are equal have equal brightness by dynamic driving, but the variance of brightness occures if areas are different like 7 and 7'. For the purpose, PN junction areas are made equal and then, unneeded parts are covered with Al films, so that a difference in brightness will be prevented from occurring even when segments are driven by the same current.
