Abstract

PURPOSE: To better the deposition-proofing, consumption-proofing and machinability containing silver in an oxide of Bi, Sn and In and that of at least either Zn or Cu.
CONSTITUTION: 1.5 to 6.0% by weight of Bi2O3 in terms of Bi, 0.5 to 4.0% by weight of SnO2 in terms of Sn, 0.1 to 3.0% by weight of In2O3, at least one of 0.016 to 2.0% by weight of ZnO and CuO in terms of Zn or Cu is contained in Ag. Adding 0.1 to 1.5% by weight of NiO in terms of Ni can improve the arc resistance and deposition proofing. In producing this material by an internal oxidation method, heating is required at about 700 to 900°C for about 20 to 200 hours. In doing so by powder sintering method, heating treatment is needed to form a conjugated oxide through reaction of Bi2O3 with other oxides.
