Abstract
PURPOSE: A catalytic composition consists of a composite oxide having a selected atomic ratio of Mo, W, Bi, Pb and O, this catalyst providing, compared to conventional Mo-Bi base catalyst, high yield throughput of acrylonitrile under the conditions of high raw gas volume velocity and high reaction rate of propylene.
CONSTITUTION: A catalytic composition comprises Mo, W, Bi, Pb and O having an atomic ratio of the formula (Mo)a (W)b (Bi)c (Pb)d (O)e, wherein if a+b=12, b=1.5 to 5.5, c=2 to 5.2 or preferably 2.2 to 4.5, and d=4.2 to 9.3. To prepare this catalytic composition, a selected amount of W compound is dissolved in water, and while agitating the solution, a specific amount of aqueous solution of Pb compound is added, and then aqueous solution of Bi compound, next aqueous solution of Mo compound are added in sequence. The resultant suspension is heated, while stirring, to evaporate water, pulverized or pelleted if required, and fired at 400 to 700°C to obtain completed catalyst. In the presence of this catalyst, propylene, NH3 and O2 are contacted together in gas phase, providing acrylonitrile with high yield throughput and excellent selectivity.
