Abstract

PURPOSE: To dispense with welding and brazing, by plastically expanding the ends of gas supply and discharge pipes which are inserted into the rotary drum of a centrifugal gas separator and by integrally coupling the expanded ends to fitting flanges.
CONSTITUTION: The end of a feed pipe 6 is inserted into a ring 16 and expanded by an expander so that the expanded end is integrally coupled to the ring 16. The ring is fixed to a fitting flange 12 by bolts 19. The end of an exhaust pipe 7 is inserted into a hole 17 and expanded by the expander so that the expanded end is integrally coupled to the fitting flange 12. The end of a product pipe 8 is inserted into a hole 18 a hole 18 of a fitting flange 14 and expanded by the expander so that the expanded end is integrally coupled to the fitting flange 14. Since these pipes are coupled to the fitting flanges at room temperature, the pipes are protected from thermal deformation as caused in a conventional method such as welding and the accuracy of the coupling is high.
