Abstract
PURPOSE:To modulate correctly a carrier multi-level superposition modulated signal by regenerating a carrier in correct phase, by making a discriminator discriminate the difference in the DC value of a demodulated base-band signal. CONSTITUTION:By the output of voltage control oscillator VCO and that of 90 deg.- phase shifter PSH, a carrier multi-level superposition signal is detected synchronously in synchronous detectors PD2 and PD1 and changed into demodulated output signals OUT1' and OUT1 through code regenerators REG2 and REG1. The output of PD2 is full-wave-rectified ARG and applied to discriminator ID via low-pass filter LP, thereby discriminating the lead-in phase of the carrier. When either ID discriminates that the carrier is led to an unneeded stable point, switch circuit SW is driven to turn OFF a control voltage applied to VCO for a short time, thereby performing lead-in operation. In this way, the carrier multi-level modulated signal can be demodulated correctly.
