Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain magnetic latent images directly from light by specifying the temperature of ferromagnetic materials by the utilization of Joule heat in forming the magnetic latent images.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic recording medium 8 which consists of a lower electrode plate 1, a ferromagnetic material layer 2 composed of high resistance soft ferromagnetic material, a photoconductive layer 3, a transparent upper electrode plate 4 is disposed with conductors 5 in net dot form in the layer 2 so as to connect the layer 3 and plate 1. The conductors 5 are partitioned by strip form partition plates 6 composed of non-magnetic material and further the magnetic materials 7 composed of high resistance rigid magnetic material are disposed, with the conductors 5 in-between. When a power source 9 is connected to the plates 4, 1 and light 10 is radiated to the plate 4, a loop of magnetic lines of force Mr is formed around the conductors 5 and when the flow of the currents in the conductors 5 ceases, magnetic latent images are formed in the magnetic materials 7. At this time, the temperature of the magnetic materials 7 is heated to the temperature within a magnetization freezing temperature range by Joule heat, thus the magnetic latent image having powerful magnetization are formed.
