Abstract
PURPOSE: To impart heat resistance to a compricated blow molded article, such as narrow-necked bottle, of crystalline polymer, without reducing the transparency, by heat treating the drawn bottle of crystalline polymer while contacting the undrawn part of the bottle with a cooling device and the other parts with a mold furnished with a path of a fluid for the temperature regulation.
CONSTITUTION: A bottle 1 obtained by the draw blow molding of a crystalline polymer such as polyethylene terephthalate, etc., is put into a mold for heat treatment 2 having a cavity 7 which is same to the bottle 1 in shape, and compressed gas is introduced into the bottle. The undrawn neck and bottom parts of the bottle 1 are brought into contact with coolable molds 4, 4' and 5, respectively, and cooled below the crystallization temperature of the polymer. On the other hand, a temperature regulating fluid is circulated through the path 10 in the heat treating mold 2 to keep the mold at the heat treating temperature, and the bottle is heat treated by the heat from the mold and the radiation heat from a heater 8 inserted into the bottle 1.
