Abstract

PURPOSE:To simply and completely remove the portion, into which the edges of plural optical fiber cores are inserted and the cladding of which is to be removed, by pulling as a whole the portion, from which no cladding is to be removed, after having been wound on a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:Holders 7 and 7' are moved by means of moving screws 11 and 11', and the portion of grouped cores 6, the cladding of which is to be removed, is fixed between multiple grooves 8 and 8'. At the same time, since the cladding of the group 6 is formed with edges contacting with the grooves 8 and 8' and having a width, the edges can be inserted into the cladding of the group 6. Then, the portion, from which no cladding is to be removed, is wound on a cylinder 12 and is uniformly turned and pulled. Thus, a tension can be applied uniformly in a preset direction to each of the cores without damaging the cores. Thus, it is possible to simply and completely remove the cladding of the group 6 without breaking the wires.
