Abstract

PURPOSE: To connect a tugboat and a ship safely, rapidly and economically, by adsorbing a magnet unit mounted to a nose of a boom to a shell plating of the ship at the height of a deck of the tugboat.
CONSTITUTION: A boom 6 consisting of an inner cylinder 11 and an outer cylinder 10 in a cylinder liner shape can be turned by means of a turntable 4 on a tugboat 2 with a strut 5 while boom itself can be turned around its central axis and its faces can be turned up and down by means of oil pressure mechanisms 24, 25, and follows up the change of relative attitude between the tugboat and a ship. A magnet 46 can be turned up and down around a shaft 54 apart from the boom 6 and can be tilted around pins 47, 48 by means of a trunnion pivotally supported to a fitting portion 53. The magnet 46 can follow up a curved surface shell plating of the ship in a partition form. After the magnet 46 is adsorbed to the shell plating of the ship, each oil pressure mechanism is released, and the angular motion of expansion and revolution becomes free.
