PURPOSE: To decrease Ca-containing component in sea water as much as possible so as to restrain the precipitation of gypsum scale in fresh water making step by adding alkali and CO2 to the sea water in order to maintain pH in a specific range as a pretreatment for making fresh water from sea water or concentrated sea water.
