PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a housing and to reduce power consumption, heat generation and cost by using a spindle motor as the rotation/driving power source of a cooling fan. SOLUTION: The rotary shaft of the fan 52 is connected through the rotary shaft of the spindle motor 56 and a gear mechanism, which are provided for a magnetic disk device 4. A driving part 3 rotates the spindle motor 56 in accordance with an external signal.
