In the above configuration, dirty oil sent from the engine enters the outer periphery of the element 4 through the inlet hole 15 of the oil filter 1 and is filtered by the upper element 29. The cleaned oil is supplied to the central bypass passage 16.
The oil is returned directly to an oil pan (not shown) through the filter, and the oil that has been filtered and cleaned by the lower element 30 is sent to a lubrication section of the engine from a cleaning path 24 below the element 4.

When the element 4 reaches its service limit and the element 4 is to be replaced, the oil in the oil filter 1 is quickly returned from the return passage 19 to an oil pan (not shown) so that the oil leaks from the oil filter 4. Need not be. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 4, when the cover 14 is separated from the separation portion 3 of the housing 2, the element 4 is held in contact with the projection 9 of the cover 14, and at the same time, the circular packing 35 is Since the contact 4 is held in contact with the portion 8, the element 4 moves up together with the cover 14, and the inclined portion 43 of the valve body 5 is separated from the closed inclined portion 21 by the spring 20 and opened as shown in the enlarged view of FIG. At the same time as the valve is opened, outside air is taken in from the outside air intake 13 of the threaded portion 12 of the cover 14 from the separation part 3 of the housing 2, whereby the oil in the oil filter 1 returns to the oil pan from the return passage 19 quickly.
At this time, the oil passes through the oil passage 48 of the valve stopper 49, and the oil smoothly flows from the cutout portion 44 of the valve head 48 to the return passage 19 from between the valve receiving portion 23 and the oil from the oil filter 1. Can be prevented from leaking.

As described above in detail, in the oil filter according to the present invention,
The upper part of the operating shaft of the on-off valve body is pushed by the lower end plate of the lower element, and the spring of the element has a stronger biasing force than the spring of the valve body. It prevents oil from flowing into the passage.
When the cover separates from the separation part of the housing, the element is held in contact with the projection of the cover and the packing is also held in contact with the cylindrical projection of the cover, so the element moves up with the cover and is closed by the spring. At the same time as the inclined portion of the valve body separates from the inclined portion and opens, the outside air is taken in from the outside air intake portion of the screw portion of the cover portion from the separation portion of the housing, whereby the oil in the oil filter is quickly returned from the return passage. Return to the oil pan.
