Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handrail, by which sliding resistance can be reduced even if it comes into contact with a driving rail and a driving side guide by impregnating a part or the whole of the inner perpipheral surface of a core with lubricating resin coating. SOLUTION: First, plural pieces of canvas are stacked and united in a body to manufacture a substantially C-shaped core body 7. unvulcanized decorative rubber 9 is preliminarily made adhere to the outer peripheral surface of the substantially C-shaped core body 7 to form an unvulcanized handrail. Subsequently, the inner peripheral surface of the core body 7 of the manufactured unvulcanized handrail is impregnated with lubricating resin coating to form an unvulcanized handrail impregnated with lubricating resin coating. Lastly, the unvulcanized handrail impregnated with lubricating resin coating is put in a high temperature vulcanizing device to be vulcanized and hardened under pressurization. At this time, the lubricating resin coating of the inner surface part of the core body 7 is simultaneously thermo-hardened. As lubricating resin coating, any material that can exhibit lubricity may be used, and fluorine contained resin coating, silicone resin coating and the like are cited.

The handrail 1 which has undergone rubber elastic deformation contacts the drive rail 5 and the drive side guide 6, and the contact causes the handrail 1 to receive a large sliding resistance. The sliding resistance increases as the tension increases and as the driving force increases. In the handrail 1 which has repeatedly received such sliding resistance, the core surface located on the inner surface side is naturally worn and damaged.

The handrail of the present invention exhibits excellent lubricity since the core body in contact with the drive rail and the drive side guide has lubricating resin-impregnated core portions on the inner peripheral surfaces on both ends of the core body. In addition, it is possible to significantly reduce the sliding resistance with the drive rail and the drive side guide, reduce the drive force, and reduce the drive power consumption, thereby exhibiting excellent durability. Which is industrially useful.
