Packaging seal layer
The present invention relates to strippable screens formed from blends of polar and non-polar polyolefins.
The strippable sealing layer is made of an adjacent thermoplastic
Useful for bonding films together to form a package. Such packaging is
The film is relatively easily broken, so pulling adjacent films separately
And easy to open.
In particular, the present invention relates to strippable seals formed from thermoplastic polymer blends.
With respect to the polyester layer, the thermoplastic polymer formulation comprises (a) non-polar
And nonionic polyolefin, and (b) a polar ethylene having carbon monoxide functionality
And a copolymer. Also, the present invention provides that the peelable seal layer
Glued together with the thermoplastic film to form a package.
And about. The bonding strength of the thermoplastic films to each other and the peelable sealing layer
Since the bonding force is stronger than the internal cohesive force of the peelable seal layer, the peelable seal layer
To make it easier to open. Background of the Invention
A wide range of products, especially perishable foods, can be used for vacuum skin packaging, thermoforming, or other
Tightly packed during packaging using a thermoplastic film that is sealed by the method
Sealed. In vacuum skin packaging, the product is a film of relatively hard material or
Heated thermoplastic on the product by different air pressure, placed on the tray support
For plastic films, the space between the upper film and the support is evacuated.
Thus, it is formed on and around the product and against the support. Heated fill
Forms a tight skin around the product and is sealed to the support
.
In thermoforming, the thermoplastic film is heated and sealed.
The flange-like edge of the support using sealing bars or similar equipment
Is sealed.

Vertical or horizontal form-fill machines such as those used for
Including packaging.
The problem that arises with these types of packaging is that heated thermoplastic plastic
The film seals too tightly against the support so that the package can be opened
Is difficult to separate. Ease of opening this type of packaging
About the corners of a package where the film is usually not intentionally sealed to a support
Easily opened by pulling the two films apart by hand
That is to be done. This way, you can use scissors, a knife, or other
Tools for opening the packaging need not be used.
Packaging materials are disclosed in EP 0 192 131 B1, which is hereby incorporated by reference.
The challenge is that the upper and lower webs of thermoplastic material and the
Row and glued to each of the opposing surfaces of the two webs, the first and second tables
Seal with adhesive strength of the seal layer to the surface greater than its internal cohesive strength
It consists of layers. The upper and lower webs to break the seal of such packaging
Is peeled by hand while the seal layer separates due to internal cohesive failure, thereby
The seal layer portion remains on the first and second surfaces.
The sealing layers in these types of packaging materials are ionomer and modified ethylene
It can be a blend of vinyl acetate copolymers. These materials work well
However, ionomers tend to be relatively expensive compared to other thermoplastics.
The disadvantage of being is not commercially attractive for certain end uses
.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a use as a peelable sealing layer in packaging.
To provide lower cost alternative polymer formulations. In particular, the invention
(A) a non-polar polyolefin and (b) an electrode having carbon monoxide functionality.
From a thermoplastic polymer compound containing
Providing a formed peelable seal layer. Here, the component (b) is 1 to 90% by weight.

Repeated for all samples and controls, averages were calculated and
expressed.
Discussion of results
The peelable seal layer has an ideal seal strength of 2-1 over a wide range of seal temperatures.
Has 2N / 15mm. As described in Table 5 above, the control example was 100 ° C.
At a seal temperature of more than, a sharp and undesirable increase in seal strength is shown. But,
Embodiments of the present invention provide excellent sealing over the entire range of sealing temperatures that typically occur.
Keep the level. Generally (see Table 8), higher levels of the components in the present invention
The peelable seal layer containing (b) has lower seal strength.
The observed exfoliation value is a function of the second phase concentration. ELVALOY of the type used*
The grade is related to the polarity of the polymer whose release effect is caused by the CO group
And generally does not have a dominant effect on the peeling performance. A more essential effect is that
Depends on the choice of the trix resin (Table 7). For the same blending ratio, the release value is a factor of two
Depends on High concentrations of denaturing agents make up for this effect.
